The "transaction" laid out in the Ostend Manifesto vaguely resembles the actions taken in the popular board game 'Risk'. 'Risk' is a board game in which players claim territories and attempt to take over every land in the entire world, leading to world domination. However, there is a political aspect to the game, involving negotiations between players, very much similar to what happened during the creation of the Ostend Manifesto. When one player decides to attack another player's neighboring territory, the player whose territory is being attacked can choose to retreat his personnel to another neighboring country of his. This process can be considered, in the terms of the Ostend Manifesto, as Spain deciding to sell its territory (Cuba) to the United States. If this does not occur however, there will be a battle between the two players (of rolling dice), much like there was to be a war if Spain refused the United States' offer of selling Cuba. And this is how one can view the events of the Ostend Manifesto, much like the popular, modern board game 'Risk'.
